Cynthia Yoder has worked as a journalist and teacher and holds a Master of Fine Arts in Fiction Writing from Sarah Lawrence College. Her creative nonfiction and poetry have appeared in national literary publications, including Parabola, Cortland Review, and Lumina.

Yoder earned her B.A. from Goshen College, a Mennonite college in Indiana. Moving to New York City, she studied literature at Columbia University and taught at a Lower East Side elementary school. In 1992, she moved back to eastern Pennsylvania to begin writing the stories that appear in Crazy Quilt.

Yoder lives in New Jersey, where she works as a freelance writer and participates in the Princeton Quaker Meeting. She lives with her husband, Jonathan Shenk, and their son Gabriel.
