John Sharp is a teacher, writer, story teller, tour leader and former pastor. He was director of the MC USA Historical Committee, Goshen, Ind., and currently teaches at Hesston (Kan.) College.

Sharp was pastor of the Mennonite Church of Scottdale, Pennsylvania (1989-95); Salford Mennonite Church, Harleysville, Pennsylvania (1983-89); and youth pastor of Whitestone Mennonite Church, Hesston, Kansas (1977-80). He was editor of the Mennonite Historical Bulletin (1995-2005) and editor of the book Gathering at the Hearth: Stories Mennonites Tell (Herald Press, 2001). He has led Mennonite Heritage tours to Europe and to Central Asia for TourMagination. For fifteen years he has also regularly taught Elderhostel courses on Amish and Mennonite life.

Sharp attended Belleville Mennonite School; Rosedale (Oh.) Bible Institute; and earned degrees from Hesston College, Goshen College, and Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary. He was born in Belleville, Pennsylvania, is married to Michele Miller Sharp, and is the father of three young adult children: Erin (Colo.); Michael J. (Germany); and Laura (Kan.) He is a member of Hesston Mennonite Church.
